  The Firefox plug-in would also allow you to continue uploading without the window open

  Simple, assuming you use a recent version of windows. Make a batch file (.bat), open it in notepad, and paste in this code:

  @echo OFF
  START http://www.bitlet.org/download?torrent=file:/%1
  exit

  Save it in a permanent spot, then associate .torrent files with it in Windows (use an bat to exe converter if needed) or your web browser. Upon opening, it'll spawn a tab/window that will load the bitlet applet.
